Power Integrations SCALE-iDriver™ ICs

Power Integrations SCALE-iDriver™ ICs are galvanically isolated, single-channel gate driver ICs with output currents from 2.5A to 8A. The ICs operate from -40°C to +125°C at frequencies of up to 250kHz. The Power Integrations SCALE-iDriver ICs feature FluxLink™ magneto-inductive bi-directional communications technology for driver applications up to 1700V. FluxLink technology enhances operational stability and reduces system complexity.

Advanced Safety/Protection Features

In addition to offering isolation technology, SCALE-iDriver ICs provide advanced system safety and protection features to further enhance reliability. The ICs include the Advanced Soft Shut Down (ASSD) mechanism which protects the power semiconductor switch if a short circuit event occurs. The mechanism monitors desaturation levels and is automatically triggered if levels fall into an unacceptable range. Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) for primary- and secondary-side and rail-to-rail output with temperature and process compensated output impedance guarantees safe operation even in harsh conditions.

Package and Use

The eSOP package provides 9.5mm of creepage and a 600 Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) to ensure substantial operating voltage margin and high system reliability. SCALE-iDriver single-channel gate driver ICs dramatically reduce component count for inverters up to 110kW. Used with a booster stage, SCALE-iDriver ICs make it faster to develop efficient, space-saving, reliable inverter designs rated up to 400kW (15A).
